Baby Development – How to Monitor Infant

From eight to nine months
The baby starts noticing his own voice and may start experimenting with the sound of his cry.
You should be familiar with his different cries by then and you should avoid picking up your baby when he cries without any detectable reason to avoid spoiling him.
At this stage, not picking up a crying baby will keep him from being over-attached to his caretaker and help him be more independent, without suffering from emotional disturbances in the future.
Start feeding your child solid food as he needs to start using his teeth, which help shape his speech development.
From ten to eleven months
Provide a safe environment for your child to explore, as exploring builds his knowledge base, experience and scope.
Your baby should have a simple vocabulary by now and should be able to respond when you ask questions like, “where’s your leg?” “where’s your eye?” and such.
Picture books which feature words rather than story books are appropriate for children this age.
Showing picture cards with real objects with vocal reinforcement will also help your child learn about objects and words.
Appropriate toys should be those that require skills like pinching, turning, pushing or pulling.
You can also help your child develop the habit of waking and sleeping early.
From eleven to twelve months
A baby can now vocalize and imitate the intensity of an adult’s voice and does “baby talk.”
If a baby is unable to chew well, he cannot move his tongue well, which may result in delayed speech development such as lisps.
Slow speech development may also be the result of slow upper body muscle development.
Avoid giving your child too much sugar, meat, eggs, dairy products, processed food and artificially flavoured products.
This can result in hyper-activeness, a weak immune system and slow brain development.
A healthy diet including natural foods like vegetables can result in effective discipline and education in a child.
